Aims of the department
The department qualifies biomedical engineers with an Engineering Bachelor degree and researchers for post graduate degrees. It qualifies students in many specializations which includes: Biomechanics and Human Motion Analysis, Prosthesis andOrthotic Devices, Medical Image Processing, Medical Radiography Technic and Maintaining Medical Devices, Managing Medical Equipment in Hospitals, Managing Medical Wastes, and Medical Informatics.After graduation, students will be able to work in the following fields:
- Working in all fields of medical equipment including the principle of work, investment, and preventive maintenance.
- Setting technical conditions books to buy new equipment.
- Receiving medical equipment and matching it with the specified technical conditions.
- Calibrating medical equipment and verifying of its appropriate work.
- Developing the current equipment according to a new medical point of view.
- Processing medical images and medical imaging systems.
- Designing and developing new equipment for new needs.
- Managing medical equipment at hospitals in terms of training medical and technical staff and creating special files for medical equipment in a way that serves the management's process of the hospital.
- Supervising and participating in designing hospitals and medical care centers along with engineering team of other specializations to meet the international standard needs in a way that upgrades the level of medical care.
- Qualifying the engineering staff in the best way to be an effective element in managing the hospital and the committees of medical care quality.
- Conducting all research studies related to biomechanics and human motion analysis.
- Developing and supervising the designing of prosthesis.
- Conducting all works and studies related toengineering rehabilitation of special needs.

Medical electronics instrumentation and bio signal acquisition | Measurement and analysis of bio potentials and biomedical transducer characteristics; electrical safety; applications of FET's, integrated circuits, operational amplifiers for signal processing and computer interfacing; signal analysis and display on the laboratory minicomputer.
