Nature of work
- As an area sales manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the sales operation of your company in a particular geographical area. This could well include several counties, so expect to be fairly busy
- Accomplishes regional sales human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees in assigned districts; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Achieves regional sales operational objectives by contributing regional sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining regional sales system improvements; implementing change.
- Meets regional sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Maintains and expands customer base.
Environment of work
- With so many industries needing a sales team to keep them in profit, it can be difficult for managers to cope with everything on their own
- Administrative relations:
- Direct manager: regional sales manager.
- Subordinates: retail and wholesale administrators, supervisor's major customers.
- Cooperative relations :
- (Internal labor relations): Managers areas.
- (Foreign labor relations): the customer.
Professional life
- Customer service manager may practice his work alone or with his team work in public/private sector
- Salaries for customer service managers can be from 25000 to 35000 SP
- Bonuses or commission may also be available in some sectors like retail, sales or banking.
- In a full-time job you would work between work 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. However, you may have to work longer when necessary.
- You will be office-based, but may also visit your head office, and possibly your sales team and customers. You may need to attend conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions.

Getting the job
- This work is available to all graduates from Economic Faculty (business administration or marketing)
- 7-10 years' experience in sales management.
- A combination of 3-6 years of field sales management and/or operational marketing
- Background in a matrix role is preferred with proven team oriented and team-building skills
- Previous success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives
