Public Relations Officer has different activities and responsible that should be done in companies and firms  such as :
  • Planning, improving and  implementing of PR strategies.
  • Updating and developing information on firm's /organization's website.
  • Supervising and organizing firm's events ( exhibitions and conferences).
  • Dealing with media, analyzing media coverage that is related to firm's /organization's event.
  • Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures about the firm/ organization' s products or services.
Public Relations Officer has specific responsible in consultant area such as:
  • Providing consultant services in his job
  • Developing and updating firm's system with new techniques.
  • Doing research markets with cooperation with different departments.

Environment of work

  • Public relations officers works usually under firm's marketing department supervision, and he/she may have to attend firm's events or make media coverage for any related events.
  • Public relations officers work from 8 to 3 daily, and sometimes he/she has to extend working hours for attending social and unsocial events.
  • Public relation officers may work with a team that has many qualified workers in marketing field.

  • Students must study the following subjects: Business Administration, Operations Management, Human Resources Management, Total Quality Management, Logistic Management, Operation Research, Financial Institutions  Management, Service Institutions Management,  and Managerial Information Systems, Public Relations Management.
  • Postgraduate studies may be preferred to employers and especially studying Master or PHD in  marketing field or having  MBA degree.

Public Relations Officer should have general skills such as:
  • Good knowledge in PR strategies and understanding the importance of the publicity and media studies.
  • Good knowledge in computer science.
  • Good ability in understanding main requirements of other departments and try to solve recent related problems
  • Good knowledge in health and safety guidelines that are followed in the firm.
  • Good ability to do feasibility studies that are related to firm's social and unsocial events.
 
Public relations officer should have personal skills as well for example:
