According to international audit standards. He/ she usually does all or part of the following:- Providing professional advice and experience, and judgment and liquidation services in accounting, financial and tax areas.
- Providing audit and consultant services of financial statements and accounts for various companies.
- Studying and analyzing economic, administrative and financial conditions of companies.
- Preparing accounting, economic feasibility and financial studies.
- Providing consultantstopublic or private organizations.
- Providing tax advice and preparing tax reports or any information legally required.
- Organizing accounts and inventory actions, and designing accounting and financial systems for companies.
- Providing companies and institutions evaluation studies to transfer to another form or integration with each other.
- Auditing accounting records, financial statements and evaluated assets, and making sure of applying Syrian and international accounting standards.
- Auditing and checking internal control systems for companies and institutions.

The work environment of this profession can be summarized by the following:- The employee usually works independently.
- External auditor should be supervised by the Association of legal accountants
- This profession requires official long work hours (with other departments).
- An employee may berequiredto work at weekends.
- He/ she may be required to travel to achieve the goals of this profession such as gathering data, providing by services, or attending training courses.
- It needs full-time work.
- This profession can exercise by the men or women.
- External auditor works in his offices which should be located close to the head management
- This profession requires the ability to work in teams.
- He/she achieves positive working relations.
- It requires continued contact with the capital markets to identify movement of funds and capitals.
- It requires continued contact with directors of organizations, such as financial managers, accountants, and cost accountant

If a candidate likes to apply for this position he/she should take into consideration the following points:- External auditor should be employed by the stockholders of the organization
- Initial per month Salary is 30000 S.P, and it can increase depending on employee’s activity.
- The employee is full independence from administration in examining and evaluating process.
- The external auditor may begin to work as a professional accountant.
- When obtaining a certificate of legal accountant, he/she must train for two years at Office of Legal accountant or at any Syrian auditing company
- After gaining experience by training,
- he/she can createprivate auditing office.He/she can establish a professional audit company.
Getting the job
If a candidate is considering applying for an external auditor position, then he/ she should know the entry requirements like:- There is a special legislation to exercise this profession in Syria. Itstitleis "The regulation law of profession of accounting and auditing” No. 33 date 1/12/2009.
- A candidate should get a bachelor degree from the faculty of economic (Banking and Finance sciences, Accounting, Business Administration, economic, or marketing department or other equal department that provides with number of courses in accounting).
- Students in the faculty of economics have to study verity courses that related to banking and finance sciences, accounting, or business administration.
- A candidate should have experience in accounting business.
- He/ she should have experience and knowledge in Syrian and international accounting Standards
- He/ she should have experience and knowledge in commercial legislation, laws and regulationsHe/ she should have experience and knowledge intax systems.
Skills
External auditor should have general skills as following:- Good knowledge in job rules and conditions that are applied in the country
- Experience in implementing managerial science
- Strong mathematical abilities
- Decision-making skills.
- Experience in using computer
- An appropriate level of languages adopted by the organization.
External auditor should have personal skills that helps him/her in achieving the work:
- Syrian nationality since more than 15 years and his age under 52 years.
- Have all the civil rights and he is not doomed.
- He is prohibited carry out trade and industry.
- He does not employees of company that he audit it for than two years ago.
- He does not have relationship (nearly or affinity) with senior stockholders or top management.
- He does not be debtor or creditor to company that he audit it.
- Ability to worklogically and systematically.
- Ability of managing time.
- Ability of analyzingand deducing conclusions.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Ability to deal with modern techniques and methods.
- Performance of legal oath in front of civil court
