An economic analyst researches and supervises economic data. Also, he/sheanalyzes information and prepares plans and reports to solve the economic and commercial problems. An economic analyst usually does the following tasks:- He/she prepares the economic patterns to analyze and explain them and expect the economic phenomenon and their goals.
- He/she anticipatesproducing and consuming goods and services.
- He/she analyzesthe economic growth factors and suggests the suitable procedures to increase the economic activities.
- He/she analyzes the factors which influenceincreasing the contribution of workforce.
- He/she studies the attributes of cashing and loaning and the mechanism of working in financial organizations aiming to formulate the financial policy.
- He/ she evaluates the financial and tax policies and formulates the suggestions of financial legislations.
- He/she examines the problems concerning the economic activities of private projects.
- He/she studies the statistical data concerning the international exchangeof goods and services.
- He/she estimates producing and consuming generated and ingenerated energy.
Environment of work
In public sector:This career is practiced inSyria, mainlyin Planning and International Cooperation Commission and the Central Bank of Syria. The most important tasks that are practiced within this career are preparing the medium and long terms plans concerning all governmental sectors and supervising the economic data to evaluate the efficiency of plans and financial policies.
In Private Researches centers:
It has been a few year since this career has beenpracticed in special centers but within a narrow scope. These special centersinclude specialized centers in economic, commercial, and marketing studies and in insurance and other fields. These centerscollect data and analyze it according to the request of some organizations, banks, employment companies, and other organizations.
Professional life
An economic analyst can begin his/her professional lifeby preparing the economic data and supervisingits collecting and tabulating. Also, He/she can suggest the ways and programs of processing data. Later on, he/she can take a role in analyzing the economic phenomenon. An economic analyst might work extra-long hours even at weekends. Getting the job
There is no specific legislation to practice this career in Syria. However, practicing it in private and public sectors depends on the bachelor degree and the practical efficiency acquired.An employee in the public institutions and organizations should at least have a bachelor degree inSystems of Managerial Information or in the field of economics or management besides the experience in the technics of information. He/she also can hold a bachelor degree in Informatics Engineering (Information Systems specialization) besides the experience in the fields of economics and management.Syrian Universities granta bachelor degree in Informatics Engineering (Information Systems specialization). The faculty of Economics in Aleppo University grants a degree in Economics (Statistics and managerial information systems specializations). Also, the faculty of Managerial Sciences inEdleb grants a degree in Managerial Sciences (managerial information systems specialization).
