Nature of work
He works independently to identify appropriate agricultural machinery for agricultural work performance and develop its uses, identify the maintenance process and follow up the implementation and evaluation, identify materials, equipment quantity tables, and the specifications. He/she prepares technical reports, manages develops their skills, develops procedures and provides occupational safety and health requirements. The tasks are:- Determining the appropriate agricultural machinery and methods of operation.
- Installing, operating and managing agricultural machinery.
- Organizing agricultural machinery receipt and tests.
- Following-up systems development quality standards.
- Determining malfunctions mechanism and converting it to the concerned department.
- Identifying spare parts and matching their specifications.
- Identifying materials and equipment quantity tables.
- Preparing bid stipulations and studying them.
- Preparing technical reports and using modern techniques.
- Following up the quality standards systems development.
- Evaluating the performance to identify their training needs and train them to improve their skills.
- Providing and developing occupational safety and health requirements.
Environment of work
- Hours vary, but they usually have about forty hours a week.
- Work environment diverse between the office, field and laboratory design and testing mechanisms and workshops, maintenance, and mills.
- He/she can work independently in case of consulting.
- Full-time work is required.
- This profession is constantly evolving and need to constant qualifications.
- This job sometimes requires travelling abroad to train and gain experience from other countries.

Professional life
- He/she works independently within the powers conferred upon him/her or as a team member in private or public sectors.
- His/her salary in public sector will be at least 20,000 Syrian bounds.
- He/she supervises the agricultural projects construction, and manages the involved planning of the outset, such as building irrigation and drainage canals, develops and manages agricultural machinery and equipment industry. So, the job requires knowledge in construction , structural and mechanical engineering aspects
- His/her work requires participation in the planning and supervision of farm construction and buildings.
- His/her work requires vigilance and follow-up work process, work equipment, agricultural machinery agencies milling and mixing process and food processing and packaging.
- Field work includes participation in land preparation and supervision of the seeding and harvest method and continues to post-harvest processing and filling and this requires him to dress appropriate dress.
- He/she participates in the process of agricultural development through innovation and work to provide the effort and energy of agricultural machinery.

- For getting this job, the person have to study in Agriculture Faculty, Rural Engineering Department
- The students during that should get some related courses such as: Climate and meteorology, irrigation and drainage techniques and soil types and its classification, plants species, and sensing techniques; and practical study of several agriculture and construction engineering such as: farm machinery, and rural development courses. In addition to his foreign languages, computer programming, and engineering quality knowledge.
- Preferably, Agriculture Faculty graduate students pursue their graduated program studies in the Department of Rural Engineering to get their master's and Ph.D. degrees
