Nature of work
He/she works independently to study geological, geographical concepts and satellite images, study , analysis and design the remote sensing and GIS applications, oversee geographic information system management. He/she prepares technical reports, manages and develop their skills; and provide requirements of occupational safety and health for GIS data.Tasks are:
- Observe climate phenomena.
- Contour lines mapping.
- Interpret the information and link the aerialphotographs by the ground.
- Study and interpret reports, maps and photographs.
- Study and do basic geography and geology systems researches.
- Collect and study geographical and geological data.
- Analysis geographical and geological data.
- Perform the required database updates.
- Determine the system software and required geographical data equipments.
- System operation, maintenance, maps, graphics, and reports supervising.
- Follow up system quality standards development.
- Prepare technical reports, and use modern techniques.
- Evaluate the performance to identify their training needs, and train them to improve their skills.
- Provide and develop occupational safety and health requirements.
Environment of work
- Working hours vary, but usually it is 40 working hours a week.
- Work environment is diverse such as in the office, in the field, and field tours.
- Working independently is possible in case of experience consultation.
- Full time job is required.

Getting the job
- For getting this job, the person have to study in Agriculture Faculty, Department of Essential Sciences, or Department of Soiland Land Reclamation, or Department of Renewable Natural Resources and Ecology. The person who is got a license in Geography can also work in this field.
- The students during that should study agricultural courses and get some related courses such as: climate and meteorology, irrigation and drainage techniques, satellite images, remote sensing techniques, soils types and their classifications, and plant species. In addition to practical study of several agriculture, forestry, farm machinery, and rural development courses, also foreign languages, computer programming, engineering quality knowledge.
- Preferably, Agriculture Faculty graduated students pursue their graduated program studies in the Department of Rural Engineering, or Department of Renewable Natural Resources and the Ecology to get their master's and Ph.D.
