Nature of work
This profession is in the engineering field. He/she works alone or in a team to design and implements computer programs capable to simulate human behaviors characterized by intelligence in terms of the conclusion, reasoning and decision-making in a logical approach. He/she analysis the needs, identifies priorities, diagnoses complex problems and finds appropriate solutions for it. He/she also prepares the technical reports, manages subordinators, works on developing their skills, develops procedures and provides requirements of occupational safety and health. Artificial Intelligence Engineer do the following tasks:Assigning or scheduling tasks in order to meet work priorities and goals.
Determining needs and system requirements.
Conducting logical analyses of problems and formulating mathematical models to solve them.
After selecting and designing computer systems according to the problem’s nature and requirements, he/she represents knowledge through designing knowledge base containing states and results, design of algorithms and preparing appropriate diagrams.
He/ she uses knowledge bases and converts algorithms and diagrams into appropriate intelligent software.
Environment of work
- Artificial Intelligence Engineer works for 8 hours daily except weekends and official holidays. He/she may have to work overtime even on holidays especially when there is supervising works on implementing or maintaining network that requires long time.
- He/she works in research centers, factories and institutions to develop researches, and performs intelligent specialized computer programs.
- He/she can work in engineering office, or within a team in public or private sectors.
- He/she spends most of his/her time in clean and well lighted offices.
- Most of software engineers’ works done using computers.
- He/she should have a commitment to the international specification standards for designing networks, and works on assuring performance quality.
Professional life
- He/ she can perform his/her work individually or within a team whether in public or private sectors. He/she is mostly the head of the execution team. The salary at the beginning when working for the public sector is about 20000 Syrian Pounds.
- He/ she participates in multidisciplinary projects in areas such as human-computer interaction, or robotics or pattern recognition, etc.
- He/ she can prepares technical qualifications papers, studies and evaluates introduced offers, and prepares technical reports.
- The professional course of the artificial intelligence engineer develops by gaining administrative and practical experiences through employment progression as workshop chief then to the larger circles and departments in managing institutions and companies.
- He/ she can travel to get some courses.

Getting the job
- The profession can be achieved through getting a bachelor degree in Informatics Engineering or Electron and Electrical Engineering, department of Computer Engineering.
- He/she should has the knowledge in the following topics:
- Artificial intelligence systems, intelligent algorithms, design of knowledge bases, expert systems, rule engines , rule-based design, …
- Programing languages (C#, Java, PHP, etc.), intelligent programing languages (Prolog, LISP).
