Nature of work
Spinning engineering is a profession in the industrial field. He/she undertakes studies, designs and prepares plans for mechanical works at spinning and textile companies and prepares technical reports.The tasks can be classified into:
- Preparing the technological plan for machine distribution on production lines, preparing the installation plan, supervising the installation and test operating, and preparing operation programs.
- Preparing plans and programs for yarn production and defining the amount and specification of raw materials necessary for the production line. Defining storing conditions for raw materials (fibers) and the way they are supplied to production line according to product specification.
- Examine machine and spinning tools operating programs to achieve the production plan and define the modified plans necessary for machines to achieve the required products' specifications.
- Preparing lists in spare parts of machines and preventive maintenance programs.
- Developing work and production methods using modern technology and take necessary measures to limit products defects. Following up the development of quality systems.
Environment of work
- The Spinning Engineer works at spinning and textile companies for 8 hours daily except weekends and official holidays. He/she may have to work overtime even on holidays especially when there is installation or periodic or emergency maintenance works that requires long time.
- This profession requires special uniform which is comfortable and safe.
- He/she works at private or public sectors.
- He/she should have a commitment to the international specification standards for spinningand works on achieving them to assure quality.
Professional life
- The Spinning Engineer can perform the work whether in the public or private sectors. The salary when working for the public sector starts by 20000 Syrian Pounds.
- The work of spinning engineer is considered as creative work which has to be developed with the new technology and the needs of the society. The engineer should pay attention to the new development in the field via journals in addition to attending fairs related to the profession.
- The engineer works mainly within a team and is responsible for all problems occur related to profession.
- The professional course of spinning engineer develops by gaining administrative and practical experience through employment progression as team member then to the larger circles and departments in managing projects as an expert which includes planning and management tasks.
- He/she can travel to make some maintenance or to gain practical experience in the field of spinning.
- At the beginning the engineer can be appointed as chief for spinning manufacturing hall. By the time and with gaining some experience the engineer can be promoted to be technical director and then a general director or manager of the factory

- Gaining a degree from the faculty of mechanical engineering department of spinning and textile, and he/she should have the knowledge in the following subjects: yarn technology, natural and synthetic yarn spinning machines, air-conditioning of spinning halls.
