Nature of work
Automatic control engineer is a profession in the industrial sector. He/ She studies the dynamics of industrial system in addition to driving and control circuits. He/ She practices his/her work in the factories and engineering offices to make the mathematical models for industrial system after determining input and output variables. He/ She can develop suitable circuits for . He/ She tests these circuits to verify the required operating conditions.He/ She do the following tasks:
*Modeling the industrial systems and make the required measurements:
He/ She
- derivates the appropriate mathematical models for industrial systems.
- defines the values representing the input and output in the industrial system.
- makes some measurements that will determine the dynamics of industrial system in terms of speed and manner.
Choosing the appropriate fumbling system:*
He/ She chooses the method of measurement for values to be controlled. As well, he/she determines the operating way of the sensor and the type of signals .
Designing appropriate control circuits :*
He /She chooses the appropriate control method . He/ She works on the designs or programs and link them with the implementation element. Also, he/ she make the measurement process and connect it with control.
Implementing control circuits and testing them:*
He /She implements the control circuits and connect all the elements with industrial system. Also he/she tests their work. He /She also defines the ranks of calibration of each variable .He / She works on training the staff to maintain the control systems safely and economically.
Environment of work
Automatic control engineer works at a rate of 8 hours per day. He / She sometimes needs to work overtime to finish the work. He / She works in laboratories or engineering offices. He/ She should communicate with technicians and other engineers who involved in the development control systems.He/ She can also work solo through the establishment of a specialized facility. He / She should commit to international standards of quality assurance systems.
Professional life
- Automatic control engineer can work solo or within the team, both in the private sector or public sector. (his /her monthly salary at the beginning of his/her work in the public sector is up to 20,000 S .P)
- He/ She puts the terms of control systems and manufacturing equipments.
- He/ She evaluates the technical reports.
- His/ Her career path develops when gaining practical experience.
- He/ She promotes to general director of the largest departments where he/she develops and oversees the resources of the institutions, which include labor, information, funds , property and capitals.
- He/ She can do many o projects depending on the engineering background. He /She also put the strategies to be implemented in accordance with the guarantee and total quality management standards.
- He/ She can travel to give experience in the field of control systems.
Getting the job
To access this profession he/she should get a degree in Mechanical Engineering -Department of Production Engineering or the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
