Education programmes of job
Nature of work
Hydraulic systems engineering is a profession in the industrial sector. Hydraulic systems engineerstudies, installs, implements, maintenances, and develops hydraulic systems of engineering tools and machines. He/she also performs duties during installation, maintenance or development of hydraulic systems. Depending on loads and dynamic motions required for the machine and the knowledge of hydraulic members, the engineer designs the hydraulic system and calculates the capacity of pumps and tanks, size of pipes, and the position of each valve to control the flow and pressure through the entire stages of the system. He/she performs installation hydraulic systems according to the design with the concentration on hydraulic liquid leak, and the calibration of pumps and valves to the required values.He/she also works on periodic maintenance and makes sure of the calibration of valve, leak seals and the viscosity of the hydraulic liquid. The engineer should also perform emergency maintenance and change the damaged pieces and re-calibrate them.
He/she should have a commitment to the international specification standards for hydraulic systems, installing the systems in the proper environment and works on assuring the performance quality.
Environment of work
- The hydraulic systems engineer works for 8 hours daily except weekends and official holidays. He/she may have to work overtime even on holidays especially when there is installation or periodic or emergency maintenance works that requires long time.
- The hydraulic system engineer performs his/her job within factories or at private maintenance workshop.
- He/she may be exposed during work to hydraulic liquids.
- He/she can work individually by establishing his/her own facility specialized in maintaining hydraulic systems and calibrating them.
Professional life
- The Hydraulic systemsengineer can perform the work individually or within a team whether in the public or private sectors. The salary when working for the public sector starts by 20000 S. P.
- Write specification books for tenders to purchase tools and equipment of hydraulic systems, testing and assembly of them. Also study the offers and evaluate them and prepare technical reports for this kind of systems.
- The professional course of the Hydraulic systems engineer develops by gaining administrative and practical experience through employment progression and promotion to the bigger circles including administrative or R&D sections. The higher ranks include development of works and supervise the effective management of resources (including financial administration, human resources, production management, IT systems, and quality control) of the company.
- Depending on hydraulic system engineer background, he/she can engineer many projects and put plans and strategies to implement them according to total quality management.
- The engineer may travel to perform some maintenance or calibration work or to offer experience in hydraulic systems.
Sectors of careers
Hydraulic systems engineer can perform job within the following sectors:- Study offices of hydraulic systems
- Maintenance workshop of heavy and light engineering equipment with hydraulic systems.
- Factories that includes machines for plastic production.
- Workshops and factories that includes metal forming machines.
- Management of different engineering projects using quality and occupational health and safety criteria.
The Hydraulic systems engineer can participate in the following academic fields:
Mainly in the field of designing engineering tools and machines and can participate in the field of construction machines and project management.
